A normally typical lunch hour in New York was anything but “typical” on a recent Monday afternoon. An incident occurred between two motor vehicles that resulted in several people suffering injuries, including a pedestrian. One of the vehicles involved in the collision was a school bus, although, thankfully, there were no students on the bus at the time.
Investigators are still working to determine what or who may have caused the crash. Police say the school bus was sent careening into a nearby storefront after a chain reaction crash on the road. A local member of the community happily reported that workers inside the store were able to escape to safety as the bus came crashing through the doors.
A pedestrian was pinned against the building
Rescuers arrived on site to find a pedestrian pinned against the dry cleaner store in the immediate aftermath of the crash. She was transported to a nearby hospital for emergency care. However, she was listed in critical condition. The bus driver is also said to have suffered injuries in the crash.
Police have not made any arrests
In past New York collisions, there have often been arrests made at accident scenes, especially if investigators suspect someone of drunk driving. No arrests were made following the recent bus accident. If the accident victim listed in critical condition survives his or her injuries, a legal claim may be filed in civil court to seek compensation for damages. This is often done in cases where there is evidence that driver negligence was a causal factor in a collision.
